Dakahlia Governorate has announced an ambitious project to convert the home of 'Star of the East' artist Umm Kulthum, in the village of Tamay al-Zahaira in Sinbillawin Center, into a cultural museum that highlights her artistic career and provides a comprehensive cultural experience for visitors and lovers of Arabic art from Egypt and abroad. Egyptian media reported that Dakahlia Governor Major General Tareq Marzook stressed the importance of developing the site to reflect the status of 'Star of the East', while preserving the original architectural character of the house that witnessed the birth of one of the greatest voices in Arabic singing. The Governor explained that the project coincides with development works at Umm Kulthum Theater in Mansura Culture Palace, in addition to establishing a museum that includes the artist's collections, to become a cultural center that showcases her artistic history and introduces visitors to her creativity and artistic legacy. In turn, the Umm Kulthum family expressed their appreciation for this initiative, pointing to the historical value of the house and its role in the beginning of an exceptional artistic career, and confirmed that the site is witnessing a large turnout of local and international visitors wishing to learn about the life of the legend of Arabic singing. The family confirmed that the legacy of Umm Kulthum is still present despite more than fifty years having passed since her death, as her songs continue to influence new generations and maintain their distinguished place in the memory of Arabic art. This step is part of a broader plan to transform the house into a comprehensive cultural destination, aiming to preserve national heritage, document an outstanding artistic and national career, and convey a message to new generations about the importance of preserving the symbols of Egyptian culture and enhancing their global presence.
